About Durbar at Sheraton Hotel
Durbar—a name traditionally referring to a classic Mughal court in India—is a Colonial-style bar offering fine beverages and flavourful tapas with an Indian slant. With room for 80 guests, Durbar features posh, palatial décor comprised of luxury fabrics and authentic details, conjuring living quarters fit the maharajahs of yesteryear yet with a 21st century spin.
Greeting you with chill-out lounge music and the occasional jazz riff, the main bar area features oversized candle holders in dark colors and three majestic Maharajah chairs. Cosy tables for two or four offer intimate nooks, bunk-style bed seating lends itself to a more informal affair, and bar seating and larger tables are perfect for socializing. An elegant Private Room on the mezzanine floor is best suited for festive cocktail gatherings. Leather seats, interesting accent tables and chairs, wooden cased fridges and chandeliers, as well as an extra-large plasma TV all contribute to the sumptuous and decadent atmosphere.
The heart of Durbar lies in the display cabinet, set strategically in the centre of the room. A four-faced bar chiller, it is built for a Maharajah’s bejeweled wooden chest. Here, a skilled mixologist mixes, blends, shakes, stirs and muddles the best fresh ingredients into veritable works of drinkable art. Durbar boasts one of the largest collections of fine champagne in Bangalore and a specially-made champagne chiller keeps dozens of varieties in optimal condition. Be it a prestigious cuvée to mark the occasion or a modest non-vintage rosé for a pre-prandial drink, the choice is endless.
